WEEKLY FOCUS: Stop doing something that you don’t want to do anyway!

If you have daily to do lists that exceed your available time by a factor of 3 or more, consider yourself typical. You have lots to do and your family, friends, career and life seem to put even more things on the list. This week you get to acknowledge that you will never do all this anyway, so you give yourself permission to make life simple.

ACTION:

CHOOSE AT LEAST ONE THING NOT TO DO! AND DON’T DO IT – EVER…

This may seem radical at first, but let it sink in and let it be FUN. What you want to eliminate is something that Doesn’t really need to be done (Is there a book to read or a project that you keep avoiding?)

Can be done by someone else (there are people you can hire to do things at less expense than you might imagine, or maybe your spouse could pick up their own dry cleaning?)

If it drains your energy, get creative and delegate or delete it. Whatever drains you limits your productivity and creativity.

SELF OBSERVATION:

Notice what comes to mind. Were there lots of things you wanted to eliminate? Did you have feelings of guilt? Did you think of eliminating something that actually supports YOU because it seemed unnecessary? What would you eliminate if you put YOUR energy and happiness above all else? Are you willing to do that?
