Summer is coming to a close, and fall trends are beginning. It seems like summer flew by this year.

Are you squeezing in those last days of vacation before the official start of a new season? I was not able to travel (life threw me a few curve balls), so I am planning an early fall getaway somewhere cool and crisp where I can wear a new fall cape. :)

Fall trends are on the menu today. I decided to break it up into 2 parts with accessories next month and I will include makeup.

There is something for everyone out there this season. The looks from the 1920’s-1990’s are represented in fashion.

Lots of interesting fabrics that are quite revolutionary in the textile field.

Here Is A Breakdown Of What You Will Be Seeing In Fall Trends:

Color-

RED dominates. All hues from pinkish to wine. Red is a terrific mix with all neutrals.

Teal, royal blue, turquoise

Grays, black, white and black and white mixed.

Camel and ochre (mustard)

Jade and emerald green

Purple orchid

Color blocking still holding

Pattern-

Snakeskin (python), mad for plaid, dots and spots, menswear looks: houndstooth, herringbones and tweeds, southwestern prints

Fabrics-

modern techno(e.g. plastic, vinyl, neoprene), pleats, lace, leather, fur (fake of course!), satin, velvet, chunky knits, 3 dimensional fabrics

Dresses-

The shift and sheaths, sooo popular. Love this look for work so happy dresses are staying

The wrap dress is back too.

Blouses-

Soft and feminine with a bow tie at neck

Sleeves-

Contrasting from the rest of the garment.  Hmm…this look could make you look like a linebacker so proceed with caution.

Skirts-

Pencil, pleated, slight bubble most hovering around knee and below (this length needs heels!)

Pants-

Patterned (be careful of this one), all styles: ankle, trouser-like, slouchy, cigarette

Evening-

The ‘evening tuxedo’ look

Gold

Purple

Red

Outerwear-

The return of the cape and capelet. Hope you held on to yours from past seasons. A great look if you have a flair for the dramatic. Choose a capelet if the the sweeping cape is overwhelming.

Puffer coats and jackets hotter than ever.

Anoraks and ponchos

Varsity jackets- Yes, you read that right. A nod to the collegiate look but with a hip twist worn over a pencil skirt and booties.
